Better Internet for Kids
The European Commission adopted a new European strategy for a Better Internet for Kids – BIK+ – on May 11, 2022. According to a Commission communication, the strategy is part of the comprehensive EU strategy on the rights of the child and aims to improve age-appropriate digital services and ensure that every child is protected and respected online. It aims to provide “accessible, age-appropriate and informative online content and services that serve the best interests of children and meet their needs.”
The cornerstones for implementing the strategy for a better Internet for children will continue to be the network of Safer Internet Centers in the EU member states and the Internet portal betterinternetforkids.eu (Safer Internet Center Luxembourg: BEE SECURE).
The Better Internet for Kids portal provides information, guidance and resources on better Internet issues, provided by the joint Insafe-INHOPE network of Safer Internet Centers in Europe and other key stakeholders.
