From 17th January 2020, a new EU regulation on consumer protection cooperation No 2017/2394 (CPC regulation) will come into force. This is a revision of the CPC regulation No 2006/2004, which allows national authorities of EU member states to take joint action against breaches of consumer protection rules when traders and consumers are established in different EU countries. As part of the reform, from 17th January, the European Consumer Centre Luxembourg (CEC) will be authorized to report infringements to the competent authorities in Luxembourg and the EU Commission and to provide all information available to the CEC. More details on the reform and the new CPC Regulation can be found on the website of the European Commission.
