After the EU regulation on geoblocking had come into force at the end of last year, the Grand-Ducal Regulation of 26 June 2019 will make the CEC Luxembourg the official contact point for consumers on geoblocking issues from 28 June 2019 on.

Consumers can now contact the European Consumer Centre Luxembourg free of charge, e.g. in the following cases:

  • in so-called re-routing, i.e. when consumers are redirected to country-specific websites when shopping online, without having given their prior consent to the redirection;
  • or if, for example, they cannot shop on French or German websites under the same conditions as French or German consumers;
  • or if credit cards from consumers living in Luxembourg are declined during payment.
